A day that starts on the terrace

Coffee reaches the table before nine, because the sun is already there. The children are heading for the pool before you have poured a second cup. A game of padel in the afternoon, a long dinner outside in the evening — and all of it works just as well in January as it does in July. That is an ordinary day in this Torrevieja apartment.

The apartment sits inside TM Lagoons Village, one of the best-kept and most complete residential resorts on the southern Costa Blanca. This is not an ageing seaside flat with furniture hauled in as an afterthought — it is a new, calm, carefully designed place where everything is exactly where it should be.

Inside the apartment

The open-plan living room is the sociable heart of the apartment: kitchen, dining table and sofa area share one bright space, so nobody ends up cooking alone in a separate room. The kitchen is fully equipped — meaning real cooking, not just reheating a supermarket pizza. Large glass doors open straight onto the terrace, so indoors and outdoors run together.

The terrace is what people come back for. Deep, covered and big enough for the whole party at once — eat outside in the morning, take the sun in the afternoon, sit out with a glass of wine in the evening, and nobody is in anybody's way. The view runs out over the resort gardens and straight down onto the pool. Even at the hottest hour of the day there is shade to sit in.

The three bedrooms are built for actual sleep, not just for getting through the night. Two have large Scandinavian double beds with proper mattresses — not the short, hard beds you usually find in holiday flats, but the kind you get out of genuinely rested. The third bedroom has two single beds, which works perfectly for children, teenagers, or friends who would rather not share.

The master bedroom has a real baby cot — not a folding travel cot. Families with a small child get to leave one large, awkward piece of luggage at home.

Two bathrooms means a party of six is not queuing to get to the beach in the morning. The apartment has air conditioning, so even an August afternoon stays comfortable indoors.

TM Lagoons Village — the resort that makes the holiday

The apartment is excellent, but the honest truth is that half the holiday happens outside it. TM Lagoons Village has more than 15,000 m² of communal areas, built to a standard you simply do not get in an ordinary Spanish rental.

Location

The complex is in Torrevieja, between the Lagunas de La Mata Natural Park and the famous pink lake, Laguna Rosa — where the pink of the lagoon, the blue of the Mediterranean and the green of the natural park all meet. The pink lake is one of the most photographed spots in Spain, and it is quite literally around the corner.
